Ground-breaking ceremony at Plant South in Selb as a further step towards the goal of becoming No. 1 in Europe

The official ground-breaking ceremony for a new extension to Plant South in Selb took place on 21 November. The ground-breaking ceremony was not only for the new extension but was also representative of the total of 20 million euros that Kyocera is currently investing in the Selb site.

KFEG President Dr Carsten Rußner welcomed numerous guests from politics and business and thanked everyone involved for the excellent cooperation on this project, which is another milestone in the company's future.

In addition to the new building, a nearby company site was also recently taken over in order to expand production and logistics capacities more quickly. This positive necessity is primarily due to the full order books. By expanding the infrastructure, it is already possible to respond to the increasing demand for high-tech products made of technical ceramics.

General Manager Dr Florian Arzberger gave the guests an insight into the planned construction measures and the expansion of the machinery at the Selb site. The investments are forward-looking for the growth of the Selb site and the entire KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH. The growth will not only be noticeable in terms of production space and turnover. The number of employees will also increase to 400. Kyocera in Selb is therefore already one of the most forward-looking employers in the region.

The mayor of Selb, Ulrich Pötzsch, is also extremely positive about this. He praised Kyocera for its clear commitment to Selb and emphasised how important it is for communities to have companies that maintain jobs and create new ones. Robert Göpel from the Chamber of Commerce for Upper Franconia in Bayreuth was also impressed, emphasising Kyocera's courage with regard to the company's plans and investments.
